Our Statement of Beliefs
What We Believe and Stand ForThe Scriptures
We believe the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writings, infallible and God-breathed, the final authority for faith and practice—all of life (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
The Godhead
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
Jesus Christ
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful humanity (John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:35). We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice, and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead (Romans 3:24-25; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7).
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; who regenerates, sanctifies, and seals believers unto the day of redemption; and who empowers believers for godly living and service (John 16:8-11; 2 Corinthians 3:6; Romans 8:14-16; Ephesians 1:13-14).
Humanity and Sin
We believe that humanity was created in the image and likeness of God but fell through disobedience, incurring thereby both physical and spiritual death. All human beings are born with a sinful nature and are sinners by choice and therefore under condemnation (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23; 6:23).
Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to humanity by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God (Ephesians 2:8-10; John 1:12; 1 Peter 1:18-19).
The Church
We believe that the Church, which is the body and espoused bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again persons of this present age. We believe in the local church as the visible expression of the universal Church, consisting of believers who gather for worship, instruction, fellowship, service, missions, the ordinances of baptism and communion (Ephesians 1:22-23; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Acts 2:41-42, Ephesians 4:11-16).
Spiritual Gifts
We believe the Holy Spirit distributes spiritual gifts to believers for the building up of the church and advancing God’s kingdom. We believe all gifts of the Spirit mentioned in Scripture are available today, including but not limited to prophecy, healing, tongues, and interpretation (1 Corinthians 12:7-11).
The Five-Fold Ministry
We believe that Christ gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-13). These ministry gifts continue to function in the church today under biblical authority and accountability.
The Great Commission
We believe every believer is called to make disciples, share the gospel, and participate in fulfilling the Great Commission locally and globally (Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8).
Marriage and Family
We believe marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman as designed by God. We believe children are a blessing from the Lord and that parents are responsible for their spiritual training (Genesis 2:24, Psalm 127:3).
The Ordinances
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as a testimony of faith in Christ and as an outward expression of an inward transformation. We practice infant dedication and believer’s baptism (Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:3-4).We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death until He comes (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 8:36-38; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
The Second Coming
We believe in the personal, visible, and glorious return of Jesus Christ. We believe in the resurrection of the dead, eternal life for believers, and the final judgment (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 20:11-15).
The Eternal State
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people: believers to eternal life and unbelievers to judgment and eternal punishment. We believe that the souls of believers are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord, where they await their resurrection to eternal glory (Matthew 25:46; 2 Corinthians 5:8; Revelation 20:11-15).
